CHURCH STREET PROBATE
You will need to gather all of the assets relating the deceased. This will include writing to the banks/building societies known and sending a death certificate. The institutions will write back informing you how to release the assets once the grant of probate is obtained. Property will need to be professionally valued usually by 2 different estate agents or surveyors.
Once all the assets have been collated and the value of the estate is known the IHT forms will need to be completed. There are different forms that need to be completed for different types of assets. Once these have been completed Inheritance Tax can be calculated and submitted to HMRC for settlement.
An oath would usually need to be submitted with the forms which can be done at a solicitors office but there are exemptions to this.
Once the inheritance tax has been paid a probate of grant will be issued which will allow the executors to collate all the assets.
